The agricultural centre La
Sassetta is situated in the high Maremma
area of Tuscany in the countryside
around Bibbona in the province of
Livorno.
It sits on the hillside
of the Etruscan riviera at 80 metres
above sea level and is only 6 km from
the coast. It covers a total surface
area of 73,000 sq.metres and is a
family concern dedicated to the cultivation
of vines, olives and fruits since
1990.
All the cultivation is strictly biological
and regularly controlled and certified
by the Consortium for the Control
of Biological Products. The products
can be bought on the farm.
Given the perfect location
of the farm at only 8 km from the
beaches of Marina di Bibbona, 2 km
from Magona (a natural biogenetic
reserve), just a few km from Bolgheri
and other characteristic villages
that are examples of Etruscan, Roman
and Mediaeval civilisation and at
the most only one hour by road from
the noted cities of art such as Volterra,
Pisa, San Gimignano, Siena and Florence.,
in 1999 the owners decided to set
up a small agrituristic centre as
a destination for nature, beach and
cultural holidays.
